freshen up your front entrance on a budget
so, our condo's front entrance is tiny to say the least and we were on a small budget to freshen it up. i wanted a light, bright and inviting welcome when you first walk that served both design and function. we needed a few things; a place to set our keys, and few hooks to hang our go-to sweaters/coats and a mirror to give ourselves one last glance before leaving the house. here is what i came up with!
most of what you're seeing here is from ikea! as i said before, our entrance in tiny, so i needed to find the most narrow console table or floating shelf, and let me tell you, it was nearly impossible. anything i did find came with a hefty price tag and so i had to improvise; i ended up using this floating shelf from ikea. it's actually meant for displaying pictures but instead i used it as more of a decor shelf and a place to set our keys. i needed a pop of green (of course!) and because we have no natural light in our front entrance, i had to get a faux plant. i picked this one up from home sense! i love the black and white pattern on the vase, it adds that extra flare the space needs. the mirror above is also from ikea. it's absolutely perfect for the space, as soon as i saw it i knew i had to have it. side note, how cute is my key chain from nest in the city? i LOVE it. if you missed my post on them earlier this year, you can read it here.
the wall you're seeing here is pretty much the only wall i had to display art work. wanting to stay in budget, i found this print on etsy, and it downloaded right on to my computer and i sent the file to staples to have it printed, poster size. i then picked up the black frame from ikea, and voila, there you have it, art work for $35.
front entrances can get pretty dirty so of course a rug is needed to catch some of it! i loved this design on this rug i found at h&m. it sort of mimics the design on the vase shown above and ads a little bit of interest to the floor and hides the dirt so well! it washes like a dream, added bonus!
and so there you have it, our freshened up front entrance, done on a budget. what do you all think? we're pretty happy with how it turned out! as always, thanks for reading, until next time. xo.
