shared nursery reveal
hello my dear friends! i apologize for my absence, this third trimester has been a tough one. there was a lot of things we needed to do renovation wise to our home before the baby came, so that paired with third trimester fatigue, kept me away from my dear blog. our biggest project was replacing our flooring, and thanks to my amazing sister, it is complete! it made decorating our shared nursery that much better. with our due date ONE day away, i am surprised with the burst of energy i have! i thought i better take advantage of it and post our little shared nursery we created for us and baby hendrik.
if you have been following me so far, you're probably aware that bradley and i live in a one bedroom condo downtown, that we absolutely love! we of course can not stay here forever, but plan to be for the next year, so a shared nursery it had to be. our room is not tiny but is not large by any means. we had to ensure we had enough space for the crib, dresser and bed, and maximize how we organize and store ours and hendrik's things. here is a look into our shared space with our little man.
it was important to keep a minimalist design in our shared nursery and ensure that neither our decor or the nursery's competed with each other. the neutral colours of his crib, pillows and sloth ;) compliment the rest of the room and are still are so sweet to reflect a little baby boy.
again, wanting to keep things minimal in the nursery, but still showcase that we have a little baby boy that deserved his own decor, we chose pieces that were unique and served fun and purpose! we absolutely love our handmade haus shelf from our friends over at co.create. this piece is original and simple! i wanted to ensure we didn't put anything on the shelf that could accidentally fall and hurt little hendrik, so i put a soft stuffy, teether's and made an 'h' from washi tape to put his stamp on the wall. our shelf perfectly pairs with our letter board from letterfolk! i love the ability to change up the words to always keep it interesting. this too will double as our milestone board to capture all those sweet little memories. the 'xo' print was meaningful to bradley and i, (take a look here to see why) and was all of five dollars. i bought the digital file off of an artist on etsy, and printed it at staples, used washi tape to adhere to the wall, and voila, some unique art for little cost.
ummm how cute is this little bunny garland? we love little lamb & co and their unique minimalist design. the perfect accent to our simple display shelf to store books and things. we will probably double this garland as decor for our sip + see in june. and check out that teether! not only is it adorable, but they're safe for your little one.
when we started to design the nursery, bradley and i did a major purge. anything not used/worn in the past 6 months went to donation and we created space in our room and in our minds. it felt so good to eliminate the unnecessary. we didn't have room to have a change table, but from my experience as an auntie over the past 10 years, i knew that i usually just plopped that baby on a comfy surface for a bum change and that was good enough. for clothing, bradley and i used half of our six drawer dresser for us, the other half for hendrik. we also have a large closet with ample shelves to accomdate all of our things. hendrik's clothes are organized by age to make it a little easier when dressing him. in the last drawer, we stored extra diapers and wipes!
the little basket works great for swaddling blankets and stuffies for the little guy, and easy access for mama and dadda when things are a little chaotic. our little dog jack likes to steal things from his little brother sometimes, but oh well, sharing is caring.
a few more snaps to see the whole room design together, we are so happy with how it all turned out! we kept true to our style and didn't compromise a beat for us or hendrik. now we wait for the little guys arrival and enjoy this space we have created! thank you so much for visiting the blog. be prepared for many posts to come introducing you to little hendrik. xox.
